Pioneer A-40AE

Developed according to the original Direct Energy concept, Pioneer's latest A-40AE integrated amplifier features the newly developed Direct Energy design that strives for high S/N to produce a stunning and lifelike sound field. With features such as isolated power supply, custom-built large capacitors, Direct Function, Power Amp Direct Mode, aluminum volume control/front panel, and Phono MM input, you can enjoy clear and pristine sound, just as the artists intended.

Direct Energy Design/Direct Energy Construction

Pioneer's Direct Energy design is based on the Direct Energy concept - the lossless transfer of energy from the amplifier to the speakers. The latest integrated amplifiers are based on this philosophy and feature optimized power supply and output circuit blocks and an optimized component layout. The result is excellent signal transfer and a high signal-to-noise ratio. In addition, the A-40AE adopts the newly developed Direct Energy Construction, in which the power is supplied via a separate substrate, in order to achieve the shortest possible power supply path via cables. This is because wires have inductance components and can introduce noise. With this significant revision, signal loss and noise can be further reduced to deliver a wide sound field and clear sound image.

Isolated power supply

The windings for the power amplifier, preamplifier and controls are each separated within the power transformer to prevent mutual interference.

Pioneer exclusive electrolytic capacitors

The main capacitor, which determines the audio quality of the amplifier, was developed in cooperation with ELNA. The Pioneer logo on the case shows that it is an exclusive audio-only condenser.

direct function

The A-40AE is equipped with Direct Function, which bypasses circuits other than volume control to provide a pure listening experience suitable for musical content. This feature isn't a simple switch, it's a fine tune that improves musicality.

Power amp direct mode

The power amp direct connection allows you to connect an external preamp and use the unit as a power amp in a multi-channel setup.

Anti Standing Wave Isolators

The anti-standing wave isolator has a special shape with no parallel sides inside to prevent cavity resonances. This makes sound localization, tone and scale clearer while contributing to seamless connection between channels and improved response to fast sound.

Speaker terminals made of non-magnetic material

The speaker terminals are made of non-magnetic material, which is less susceptible to external interference and transmits the signals to the speakers with high purity. The A-40AE features two sets of speaker outputs (A, B) that can be used individually or in parallel, as well as transparent, high-quality speaker terminals for a reliable connection.

Phono (MM) input

The A-40AE is equipped with a phono input (MM) that allows you to connect a turntable to enjoy high-quality audio playback from vinyl records.

digital inputs

The optical and coaxial digital inputs let you connect your TV or other audio equipment and enjoy high-quality sound. Hi-Res Audio is also supported, with the ability to handle sample rates up to 192kHz.

Aluminum volume control and front panel

The A-40AE features an aluminum volume knob that feels solid and premium. The sleek aluminum front panel also adds a touch of elegance to the listening experience.
