music everywhere

The M66 is a high-resolution network streamer based on the renowned BluOS multi-room music management system and provides access to more than 20 streaming services, including several that offer lossless and high-resolution audio. Using the intuitive BluOS app on a smart device or PC, listeners can play music from their favorite streaming service, personal music library and thousands of internet radio stations in up to 24-bit/192 kHz resolution. Like all BluOS-enabled components, the M66 also has full MQA decoding and rendering capability.

With BluOS you can listen to music in just one room or share music over your home network with up to 63 other BluOS-enabled components from NAD and other hardware partners. The M66 easily integrates with home control systems from Control4, Crestron, ELAN, RTI, URC and others. Listeners can also control playback by voice via Amazon Alexa or Apple Siri.

Perfect response

Dirac Live room correction and Dirac Live bass control are integrated into the M66. Connect the included calibrated microphone to the USB port of the M66 and then launch the Dirac Live app on a smart device or a PC. The app guides you through the calibration process and then creates correction filters that compensate for acoustic problems such as standing waves and unwanted reflections. You'll benefit from more structured bass, improved tonal accuracy, vastly improved clarity and focused imaging.

As the first stereo component, the M66 has four balanced and four unbalanced subwoofer outputs and is equipped with Dirac Live Bass Control, which allows independent calibration of multiple subwoofers. Dirac Live Bass Control optimizes the subwoofer output in both frequency and time domains, ensuring a seamless fusion between subwoofer(s) and main speaker(s), as well as smooth, consistent bass reproduction across the entire listening range and not just in the sweet spot.

Highest performance

At the heart of the M66's digital section are the Saber DAC and ADC chips from ESS Technology. These audiophile designs are known for their exceptionally wide dynamic range, extremely low noise and distortion, and outstanding time domain performance.

The M66 is the first component to feature NAD's innovative Dynamic Digital Headroom (DDH) circuit. When enabled in the BluOS app, DDH eliminates digital inter-sample peak clipping distortion that can occur during digital-to-analog conversion with sudden high-frequency transients. The advantages are particularly noticeable with percussion instruments: Rimshots are more powerful but less shrill; Cymbals appear more realistic and less splashy.

For volume control, the M66 uses a high-precision resistor cascade circuit. Compared to traditional analog circuitry, the M66's digital volume control significantly reduces thermal and associated distortion, maximizes dynamic range and provides more precise left and right channel matching across the volume range.

By default, analog signals are converted to digital signals, so features such as Dirac Live Room Correction and Bass Control are available for all sources. However, the M66 features a selectable analog direct mode that bypasses all digital processing, as well as separate signal paths for analog and digital sources. Internally, the analog and digital sections are physically separated from each other and shielded by their own power supplies, so that the analog signals are not affected by digital interference when the analog direct mode is activated. The BluOS app even lets you disable the M66's Wi-Fi and Bluetooth circuitry to avoid RF interference.

Connect everything

With its numerous analog and digital inputs, the M66 can accommodate all of your source components. Vinyl fans will appreciate the M66's ultra-quiet MM/MC phono stage, which features precise RIAA equalization, high overload margins and innovative circuitry that suppresses infrasonic noise that is always present in vinyl playback without sacrificing bass response . For TV and movie playback, there is an HDMI eARC port for connecting to an HDTV. Other options include two coaxial and two optical S/PDIF inputs, a balanced AES/EBU digital input, two pairs of line-level RCA analog inputs, and a pair of balanced XLR inputs.

In addition to the unbalanced RCA and balanced XLR outputs for connection to a power amplifier, the M66 has four unbalanced RCA and four balanced XLR subwoofer outputs. The M66's special headphone amplifier has a very low output impedance and a very high maximum output voltage, so it can also drive demanding high-impedance studio monitor headphones. The M66 also features Bluetooth connectivity with support for AAC, LDAC and aptX HD codecs.

Forward to the future

The Masters M66 represents the pinnacle of what is technically achievable in a two-channel preamplifier today and will continue to maintain its technological leadership position for decades to come. There are two expansion slots on the back that support MDC2, the latest generation of NAD's future-proof Modular Design Construction technology. As technologies evolve, M66 owners can add new features by simply inserting an MDC2 module into one of the slots.

Everything about the NAD Masters M66 BluOS Streaming DAC Preamplifier is designed to inspire pride in the owner: the beautiful 7-inch touchscreen, the elegant aluminum housing and the silky-smooth digital volume control. With its cutting-edge technology, unrivaled versatility and superb build quality, the Masters M66 is truly a masterpiece of sound.
