The German TV Award 2022: “The Passport”

The series “Der Pass”, season two, receives the German Television Award 2022 in the categories “Best Fiction Director” (Cyrill Boss & Philipp Stennert) and “Best Fiction Camera” (Philip Peschlow)

" The passport’, season two, received awards in two top categories at this year’s German Television Awards 2022 ceremony on Wednesday, September 14 in Cologne. The eight-part crime series won the coveted prize for “Best Fiction Director” (Cyrill Boss & Philipp Stennert) and “Best Fiction Camera” (Philip Peschlow).

The first season of “Der Pass” already received various well-known awards, including the Grimme Prize in the “Fiction” category (2020), the German Television Prize in the “Best Drama Series 2020” category, the Golden Camera for “Best Series ” (2019) and the Romy in the categories “Best TV Series” and “Best Producer TV Movie” (2019). Both seasons can be seen on Sky, where "Der Pass" is one of the largest German-language cult crime series from the entertainment provider.

About “The Passport”:

In the second season of The Passport, the son of a powerful family becomes a murderer while his older brother goes to extremes to protect him and his family. When the bodies of young women are repeatedly found in the border region, a German-Austrian team of investigators is tasked with tracking down the increasingly brutal and unscrupulous serial killer. Ellie Stocker, who is still suffering from the events of the Krampuskiller case, also has competition from the young, ambitious colleague Yela Antic and soon meets an old acquaintance - Gedeon Winter.

Julia Jentsch and Nicholas Ofzcarek can once again be seen in the lead roles. “The Passport” is a W&B Television Production. Producers are Quirin Berg and Max Wiedemann, Co-Executive Producer is Laura Mihajlovic. The series was commissioned by Sky Studios in co-production with epo-film. On behalf of Sky, Quirin Schmidt is responsible for the series as Executive Producer.

The second season of “Der Pass” was funded by the FilmFernsehFonds Bayern (FFF), the German Motion Picture Fund (GMPF), the Fernsehfonds Austria (RTR) and the state of Salzburg.

Filming of “Der Pass”, season three, is currently taking place in Bavaria and Austria.
