Sony presents its new BRAVIA televisions

A wide selection of new TV models from Sony can be pre-ordered in Germany from the end of April. These reproduce the cinema experience true to the filmmakers' intention - with significantly improved image quality thanks to high brightness, color volume, clear shadow details in dark scenes and sound that comes directly from the screen.

Sony has BRAVIA evolved as a film brand to enrich the ultimate home cinema experience. With the increasing popularity of streaming services, watching films in your own four walls is becoming increasingly popular. Sony's wide range of products, such as digital cinema cameras, professional monitors and headphones, have long been used by filmmakers, so the company has a deep understanding of the cinema industry and the needs of filmmakers and producers. The new BRAVIA models enhance the feeling of reality of cinematic content and deliver outstanding picture and sound quality at home that is in no way inferior to the magic of the big cinema screen. By bringing together TVs, soundbars and other home theater products under a single brand, Sony wants to serve its customers an ultimate cinema experience with breathtaking picture quality and impressive sound from a single source offer, just as the filmmakers intended. The coordinated features and designs of the BRAVIA TV and BRAVIA Theater Home Audio Products make it easier for customers to select and combine a complete home entertainment package for an outstanding cinema experience.

As part of the new BRAVIA range, Sony will release several TV models in three series, including: BRAVIA 9 stands out as a flagship model with high peak brightness, deep black levels, superior contrast and beautifully natural colors. In addition, the newly announced BRAVIA Theater series the opportunity to experience the full audiovisual richness of films at home.

“Thanks to decades of experience in the development of professional filmmaking equipment, film production and distribution, Sony is able to leverage its unique expertise in the film industry, professional filmmaking equipment and consumer electronics with its groundbreaking BRAVIA televisions and the BRAVIA Theater to use home theater products. We are excited to launch the new TVs and home theater products under the BRAVIA brand, offering new and exciting features and taking the way we watch movies at home to new levels.”

Yoshihiro Ono, Head of Home Entertainment Division, Sony Corporation

Watch films at home the way filmmakers intended

BRAVIA TVs intelligently optimize color, contrast and brightness for a home environment that's brighter than a movie theater. This ensures that the film experience at home works exactly as the filmmakers imagined. One of the elements that makes this possible is the high peak brightness of the BRAVIA 9 combined with precise control of the backlight. The image appears authentic by appropriately lighting the right parts of the screen. This allows viewers to discover even the smallest details that filmmakers have added to the scene, especially in the Studio Calibrated modes developed with leading streaming services.

Optimal picture quality to enjoy movies at home

XR processor1: Sony's XR processor features a scene recognition system that detects data with high accuracy, analyzes it and then optimizes the image for ultimate realism to replicate filmmakers' intent.

XR Backlight Master Drive2: Like the backlight control technology in Sony's professional monitors used by filmmakers, XR Backlight Master Drive uses a unique local dimming algorithm to precisely control thousands of LEDs for completely authentic contrast to shadow detail in the most demanding scenes receive.

Up to approximately 325% more dimming zones than the 95 X2023L model
Up to approximately 325% more dimming zones than the 95 X2023L model

High peak luminance3: With higher luminance than ever before, the extremely bright TVs can reproduce natural scenes in detail even in the brightest daylight, such as a snow-capped mountain landscape in bright sunlight.

Up to approximately 50% brighter than the 95 X2023L model

X-Anti Reflection and X-Wide Angle4: With X-Anti Reflection, images are clearer and contain less reflections and glare from sunlight or lamplight, allowing you to see pure blacks in brightness and enjoy clear images without distraction. X-Wide Angle ensures that images look just as beautiful from a side position as they do when sitting in the middle of the TV.

Optimal sound quality to enjoy movies at home

Acoustic Multi Audio+5: The new BRAVIA 9 TVs feature Acoustic Multi-Audio+ and are the first in the world6 with Beam Tweeter on the top edge and Frame Tweeter on the sides to deliver cinematic surround sound. Every sound comes from exactly the right place.

Voice Zoom 37: Sony's new Voice Zoom 3 uses AI algorithms to detect human dialogue and boost or reduce the volume so that even quiet dialogue can be heard loud and clear. It works great with BRAVIA Theater home theater products8.

Acoustic Center Sync: Acoustic Center Sync pairs external sound systems with the TV so that the sound is precisely matched to what's happening on the screen, creating a cinema-like setup. In cinemas, speakers are placed directly behind the screen, which has numerous small holes. The sound emitted from the speakers is forwarded so that the dialogue and sounds overlap with the image projected on the screen and can be heard from the correct position. When combining BRAVIA TVs9 and BRAVIA Theater home theater products10 The Acoustic Center Sync feature seamlessly blends the sound from the TV's speakers and the soundbar, creating a cinema-like experience where the sound appears to come directly from the TV screen.

Settings for Voice Zoom 3, Acoustic Center Sync, BRAVIA Theater devices connected to BRAVIA and other TV functions can now be made via the BRAVIA Connect app (formerly Home Entertainment Connect app) without the menu bar being displayed on the TV screen while a movie is playing.

Environmental initiatives

Sony is pursuing its Road to Zero environmental plan with the goal of reducing the environmental impact of its business activities and product life cycles to zero by 2050. BRAVIA contributes to this with innovations that combine an optimal viewing experience with the best picture and sound quality and a first-class design while reducing environmental impact. These include the following measures:

Lower power consumption: BRAVIA 9 and BRAVIA 7 utilize Sony's proprietary signal processing to maximize the panel device's characteristics by automatically optimizing brightness for each scene, achieving both high brightness and low power consumption. In addition, the Eco Dashboard has been further developed, with which various energy saving settings of the BRAVIA can be easily set and managed at a glance. Here you can also see the power consumption and tips for saving energy18.

Lower power consumption

Reducing the use of plastic in products: To reduce the impact on the environment, Sony is working on several aspects of the product life cycle, such as reducing the use of virgin plastic, improving transportation efficiency and controlling energy consumption during use.

From material development to product design, BRAVIA has managed to significantly increase the use of recycled materials while maintaining a high-quality finish. SORPLAS19, a recycled plastic developed by Sony, is used for the back cover20 used, which represents the largest surface area of a television, with approximately 65%21 of the total plastic used is recycled material. The compact, rechargeable Eco remote is also made from approximately 79,7% recycled plastic22.

Commitment to accessibility

With its activities, Sony wants to contribute to an inclusive society and improve accessibility so that people with different needs can also use the products. BRAVIA develops products with accessibility in mind so that all customers can enjoy a film experience, regardless of disability or age.

Visual and action aids: With the Talkback screen reader function, you can view program lists and set up a TV without having to look at the screen. It can also enlarge texts and display them on the screen. The tactile dots on the BRAVIA TV's HDMI and S-Center ports match those on BRAVIA Theater home theater products to make locating and connecting ports easier and for a smooth setup.

Color inversion allows the brightness of colors to be inverted, making light areas dark and dark areas light. This feature can be turned on or off as needed. If the text is more readable with a dark or light background color, the background color can be changed using color inversion.

The BRAVIA TV can be operated using voice commands, for example to turn it on and off or adjust the volume. BRAVIA TVs are also equipped with shortcuts to quickly and easily turn accessibility features on and off, allowing both those who need them and those who don't need them to conveniently use the same TV.

Time shift function: Live television can now be interrupted at any time - for example to answer the door or pick up the phone. All you have to do is press the pause button on the remote control. If you press the button again, playback will resume immediately.
