NAD C558 turntable

The NAD C 558 is a belt-driven turntable for price-conscious vinyl fans. Its solid, matt black chassis made of high-density MDF is effectively decoupled from the ground by the four rubber feet. The 10 millimeter thick turntable is made of glass, the felt mat to be placed on it is included in the scope of delivery. A precision AC motor, which is supplied with the required operating voltage by a separate switched-mode power pack, provides the drive. The record player is factory-equipped with a 9" long tone arm, a fully assembled Ortofon OM10 magnetic pickup, a high-quality cinch cable with a separate ground conductor and gold-plated plugs, and a low-resonance dust cover.

HIGH-QUALITY MATERIALS

The C 558's low-resonance, precision-machined sub-platter is driven by the motor via a special flat rubber belt, with the platter bearing on a hardened steel shaft, which in turn rests on a brass bearing. All parts of the C 558 have been carefully crafted and selected to ensure maximum smoothness of the record.

Of course, every detail was carefully considered in the design and manufacture of the tonearm. With a length of 9" it combines maximum directional stability with the highest possible rigidity and lowest mass. In addition, tracking force and azimuth can be adjusted for the most precise tracking possible, even by hand, so that the record is played with the least possible distortion and wear.

The solid chassis and the glass plate also protect against negative influences such as vibrations and thus also help to elicit maximum music from every record. The chassis consists of CNC-milled MDF and not, as is so often the case in this price range, of chipboard or plastic.
