DALI OPTICON 1 MK2
The OPTICON 1 MK2 is a compact loudspeaker that can be placed close to a wall or hung directly on the wall. The woofer has a 120 mm (4 3⁄4”) wood fiber cone and a drive unit equipped with SMC magnets. The newly developed fabric dome tweeter has a diameter of 29 mm and is based on the tweeter in our CALLISTO loudspeaker series. The dual-flare bass reflex tube, which is funnel-shaped on both sides, enables the 5-liter housing of the OPTICON 1 MK2 to realize a bass reproduction that is remarkable for its size and that is perfectly matched to the mid-range and treble reproduction.
The OPTICON 1 MK2 is available in the housing versions matt white, black ash and tobacco oak and should be placed either on a stand, on a shelf, on a sideboard or directly on the wall. It comes with an easy-to-install wall bracket that fits the keyhole slot on the back of the case.
BASS REFLEX SYSTEMThe OPTICON 1 MK2 has a bass reflex system with the special Dual Flare reflex tube, which is shaped like a funnel at both ends. This avoids turbulence – comparable to a water jet, which should not be disturbed by bubbling or splashing – and the sound reaches the outside with an optimal air flow speed and minimal distortions and flow noise, taking into account the pipe diameter and tuning frequency. The result is a significantly more powerful and exceptionally clean bass reproduction. Bass reflex systems use the acoustic energy emitted by the woofers to increase the efficiency and level in the bass range. For this purpose, the housing has additional openings with inward-facing reflex tubes that are precisely matched to its resonant frequency. With this arrangement, the phase of the rear-firing woofer signals is reversed so that they add to the front-firing sound. In order for this system to work, the reflex openings and tubes must be precisely matched to the respective chassis and housing, otherwise individual frequency ranges can be unnaturally emphasized or the impulse fidelity can deteriorate.
BASS REFLEX SYSTEM
In order to avoid turbulence with audible distortions and flow noise, both ends of the reflex tubes of the new OPTICON MK2 dual-flare technology are shaped like a funnel. As a result, the sound is emitted outwards with an optimum air flow rate, taking into account the pipe diameter and tuning frequency.
MADE IN PAIRS
Loudspeakers used in pairs should also be manufactured in pairs. In our production, the loudspeakers are therefore manufactured one by one by a single technician - from components taken in the same order from the same batch. In this way, each pair of loudspeakers supplied fits together perfectly in terms of acoustics.
SMC TECHNOLOGY
The SMC magnet material used in the magnet systems of the OPTICON MK2 woofers and mid-range drivers is characterized by very high magnetic permeability with extremely low electrical conductivity. This significantly reduces eddy currents in the pole piece of the magnet system caused by the movement of the voice coil.
MADE AND DENMARK
The OPTICON MK2 series is manufactured in Denmark. In our in-house wood processing, the MDF boards are cut, milled, surface-finished and assembled. The drivers and crossovers are also assembled in our own production lines.
DALI OPTICON MK2 series
Like their predecessors, the OPTICON MK2 loudspeakers are characterized by transparent, distortion-free and discolouration-free and very harmonious reproduction. The six speaker models available cover all placement options (shelf, wall, pedestal and floor) and designs (floor, compact, center and wall speakers). In the OPTICON MK2 series there are loudspeakers for every room and every purpose.
