DALI ALTECO C-1

The DALI ALTECO C-1 is a real multi-purpose speaker, both in terms of its design and its possible uses. The ALTECO C-1 can be used either as an attachment for the front and/or surround speakers or as a height speaker in a home cinema system, as a wall speaker in stereo and multi-channel systems or as a near-field monitor on the desk. The ALTECO C-1 is tuned to a frequency response that is as linear as possible, so that a balanced and original reproduction that corresponds to the DALI sound philosophy is guaranteed for every application.

The ALTECO C-1 reproduces the signals of the height channels of Atmos, DTS-X and Auro-3D soundtracks in home cinema systems with a corresponding AV receiver or amplifier extremely effectively - both when lying on the front speakers and radiating upwards as well as downwards directional when mounted under the ceiling or on top of the wall.

The ALTECO C-1 enables an impressively spatial reproduction without special frequency response corrections, as is usual with loudspeakers licensed by Dolby Atmos, in order to emphasize the effects of the HRTF technology (Head Related Transfer Function). Instead, the ALTECO C-1 only uses the signals generated by the amplifier for the treble channels, provided this operating mode is activated. If we had equipped the ALTECO C-1 with a non-linear crossover for the HRTF requirements, the loudspeaker would only have been suitable as a top box and not for universal use for the surround, height and stereo channels. The DALI ALTECO C-1 thus offers the advantages of several worlds and particularly versatile and flexible application options.

Important: The front wall of the ALTECO C-1 is set back a little so that the sound is emitted as precisely as possible in the direction of the listening position. In order to prevent the emitted sound waves from being reflected and broken unfavorably as a result, or a funnel effect occurring, a specially shaped foam padding is installed around the mid-bass driver, which should definitely remain in this place, regardless of the placement and use of the ALTECO C-1 .

DRIVER

The 115 mm woofer with wood fiber cone and the 21 mm ultra-light fabric tweeter ensure the implementation of all DALI sound principles, even with the uniquely designed ALTECO C-1.

The reddish shimmering wood fiber membranes are an unmistakable DALI trademark and a proven DALI technology. The cone membrane of the ALTECO C-1 consists of a mixture of paper and wood fibers. This gives the very light and stiff cones an uneven surface structure to minimize unwanted resonances.

The combination of this wood fiber cone with low-loss rubber surrounds and spiders enables an extremely detailed and exact reproduction.

POSITIONING

With its angled baffle and two available sound settings, the ALTECO C-1 can be used in numerous configurations.

To reproduce the height channels of Dolby Atmos, DTS-X and Auro-3D soundtracks, place the ALTECO C-1 on top of the front and/or rear surround speakers. Alternatively, the speaker can also take on the role of a traditional front speaker with placement higher up on the wall or mounted across the side panels. The ALTECO C-1 also offers an optimal radiation angle as a monitor loudspeaker on the desk.

If you switch the speaker on its front wall to the "Down Firing" mode, the ALTECO C-1 can be attached as a rear surround speaker on the walls to the side or behind the seating position. In this mode, the sound is directed 25 degrees downwards.

But that's not all. The DALI ALTECO C-1 can also be installed under or on the ceiling of your home cinema to play back the height channels of the new surround modes Dolby Atmos, DTS-X and Auro-3D. Of course, stereo sound reinforcement is also possible in rooms where there is no space for conventional shelf or floor-standing speakers - regardless of whether in the private sphere, in offices and law firms or in the catering trade.

LOW LOSSES

The primary function of any loudspeaker is to convert the electrical signals supplied by the amplifier into sound images that are as faithful as possible to the original within the listening room. Any distortion or discoloration of the original signal caused by the speaker drivers or cabinets means a deterioration in the sound.

In order to reproduce an audio signal as perfectly as possible, as little information as possible should be lost and the reproduction should be consistent and gapless in terms of time and frequency.

Thanks to the drivers specially developed and manufactured by DALI for the individual loudspeaker models, no or only minimal frequency corrections are required in the crossover. This enables us to use extremely precise crossovers with quality components that cause almost no signal loss.

The lowest possible mechanical losses are just as important. This is the only way to ensure that the connected amplifier is not being used more than necessary. Otherwise the detail resolution would deteriorate before the audio signal even reached the speaker. However, if the signal remains free of mechanical losses or distortions, the finest musical details are reproduced, even at very low playback volumes. The sound appears extremely transparent, lively and authentic.
