The Monitor Audio Radius 8's two side-firing 380″ C-CAM drivers – one active and one passive ABR – work in tandem with a powerful 140W cool-running class D amplifier. The drivers have no grilles but are color coded to match the cabinet finish. A 12V trigger syncs the 380 to other AV components when the system is activated.
With 140 watts of sinus power from an extremely efficient switched-mode power supply, the Radius 380 subwoofer is always in control and has an overview of what is happening and masters all genres; from soft to hard, from loud to accurate. Not every type of music or film has the same bass profile. And not everyone has the same preferences when it comes to sound reproduction. But you don't have to. The Monitor Audio Radius 380 has an integrated intelligent equalizer that can be used to switch between three different characteristics. Film mode runs linearly down to 35 Hertz. With "Music" the maximum sound pressure is reduced by two decibels, but the frequency range is expanded by 5 Hertz to a maximum depth of 30 Hertz. In "Impact" mode, the name says it all. With three decibels of additional sound pressure, the frequency response still extends down to 40 Hertz and thus ensures a lot of pressure and a pleasant gut feeling.
