Laser TV in daylight Daylight Extreme

Laser TV in daylight

A laser TV allows you to bring an affordable, big-screen experience into your home with minimal effort. Especially in the evening, such a projection unfolds its full potential and offers impressive viewing pleasure. However, disappointment can occur during daylight hours. Without a dedicated screen, be it a traditional white screen or the lack thereof, image quality can suffer significantly. In order to be able to enjoy the experience of a 100″ or even 120″ picture during the day, it is often necessary to darken the room.

However, specialized contrast screens offer a solution here. These are designed to ensure high image quality even in daylight. Two outstanding examples of screens that are impressive even in bright ambient light are the HKW Screens SoftFresnel LUXU and the Elite Screens Daylight Extreme. Both models are characterized by their ability to optimize the light from the laser TV so that a clear and vivid image is created even in daylight. Let's take a closer look at these options and find out how they can enrich the home theater experience even in less than ideal lighting conditions.

We set up the Daylight Extreme and the Hisense PL1 in our living room cinema. This has four large window fronts and the sun shines directly into this room at midday (image and video recordings 13:30 p.m.). For a direct comparison, we stuck an A3 sample of a conventional white screen onto the Daylight Extreme, so you always have a direct comparison to a conventional screen or a white wall.

Why do SoftFresnel screens cope so well with daylight?

The impressive performance of these specialized screens can be attributed to their sophisticated and high-quality construction. They consist of eight different optical micro-composite layers, including a Fresnel layer. This gives the screen its name “SoftFresnel”, whereby the “Soft” indicates that this is not a rigid panel-based screen, as is common with conventional Fresnel screens, but a more flexible, fabric-based version. This modern interpretation of a Fresnel screen is fundamentally different from the traditional Fresnel hard screens originally developed for presentation projectors in conference rooms and educational institutions. While these older models were able to brighten the image and in some cases improve contrast, they do not match the image quality and performance of the HKW Screens or Elite Screens.

The traditional Fresnel hard screens had disadvantages such as poor black levels and strong reflections on the ceiling, which affected the image quality, especially in darker environments. Elite Screens or HKW Screens has faced these challenges and achieved a significant improvement with its innovative solution. This technology not only dramatically reduces reflections on the ceiling, but also improves the black level to almost the reference level of the Starbright CLR screens. This ensures that users can enjoy a high-quality viewing experience regardless of the ambient lighting - whether during the day in bright surroundings or in the evening and at night.

The HKW Screens SoftFresnel LUXU is equipped with the latest state of the art SoftFresnel cloth. The highlight, in addition to the completely new Nano Micro Anti Glare coating, is the completely optimized and improved layer structure. Each individual part of these layers ensures an increase in contrast, brightness and black value.

A particularly noteworthy aspect is the Speckle Suppression Layer, which effectively minimizes the laser speckle phenomena with RGB lasers and therefore makes them easy to control. In addition, the final layer, the Black Black Layer, significantly contributes to improving the black value. This improvement makes viewing content in darker rooms much more enjoyable. These features not only make these screens an optimal choice for bright daylight conditions, but also establish themselves as a versatile solution that delivers excellent image quality under a wide range of lighting conditions.

The videos look very impressive with the Hisense PL1, do you have the possibility to make videos with the Chroma too? The way would be a bit too far, but I am very interested and will also buy one of these combinations.
