Dolby Atmos Flex Connect

Dolby Atmos Flex Connect

Today Dolby Laboratories introduced its latest innovation in immersive audio - Dolby Atmos FlexConnect. TCL will be the first to implement Dolby Atmos FlexConnect in its 2024 TV range.

Dolby Atmos FlexConnect is a new feature that seamlessly connects a TV's sound system with wireless accessory speakers for a richer and more immersive Dolby Atmos audio experience. It then intelligently optimizes the sound for every room layout and speaker configuration, transforming every seat into the best seat in the house. TCL will also launch a range of wireless accessory speakers to complement its upcoming TV range with Dolby Atmos FlexConnect.

“Consumers shouldn't have to move their furniture to experience better sound, the sound should adapt to them. Dolby Atmos FlexConnect is a whole new category of experience that offers consumers the freedom and flexibility to choose how they want to arrange their devices and still get a great, immersive Dolby Atmos experience.”

John Couling, Senior Vice President, Entertainment, Dolby Laboratories

“We are extremely proud to be taking a significant step into the future of immersive audio with our latest partnership with Dolby. Delivering great experiences for our customers is our top priority. With Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, users can enjoy incredible, immersive sound no matter how they arrange their audio devices. We can't wait to bring this new, bespoke sound experience to the world with our upcoming TVs and wireless speakers."

Frederic Langin, Chief Commercial Officer, TCL Europe

Give yourself the freedom to place any speaker anywhere

However, some rooms are too small or too large to place the speakers in their optimal position. Others have a particular room layout that restricts equipment placement, e.g. B. by the position of the sockets or the arrangement of the furniture. Not all consumers want to trade aesthetics for sound performance. And if not properly calibrated, the sound systems assume the speakers are placed in reference positions.

Dolby Atmos FlexConnect gives you the freedom to place one or more wireless speakers anywhere in the room without worrying about their perfect placement. The solution is also easily adaptable as more device types are added, giving TCL and other manufacturers the ability to innovatively mix and match different device combinations and form factors to meet the needs of their customers.

The system then intelligently combines each accessory with the TV's speakers to unleash the best sound performance and deliver a Dolby Atmos sound experience tailored for the home. With Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, listeners are drawn deeper into their favorite entertainment and are fully immersed in the sound through the simplicity of their TV's sound system and complementary speakers.

Benefits of Dolby Atmos FlexConnect include:

  • Elevate the already immersive Dolby Atmos experience - Dolby Atmos takes entertainment to the next level, immersing audiences in amazing, multi-dimensional sound. With Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, consumers can add additional wireless speakers to their Dolby Atmos-enabled TV to further enhance the audio performance of their system.
  • Incredible sound with any speaker placement - You can place the speakers wherever it's most convenient, making the most of room dimensions, outlets, and furniture without sacrificing sound quality.
  • Easy Setup - Setup is quick and easy, requiring no additional devices or cables. Dolby Acoustic Mapping uses microphones in the TV to locate each wireless speaker in the room and automatically calibrates the system to ensure optimal audio performance.
  • Dynamic Audio Balancing - Sound is intelligently distributed from the TV speakers to each wireless speaker, dynamically optimizing the audio signal based on the capabilities and location of all available speakers. In this way, the soundstage can be adjusted to ensure that listeners can always enjoy a first-class performance.

Dolby and TCL will be showcasing Dolby Atmos FlexConnect at IFA, which will be powered by MediaTek's Pentonic Smart TV series chipset.
