The R_volution PlayerOne 8K is a new media player with Dolby Vision and HDR10+ powered by the powerful Amlogic S928X-K/J chipset, which is also a high-end media player and media server that delivers content via the exclusive R_video_share streaming protocol other R_volution devices in the network can transmit. The media player supports direct playback of complete Blu-ray Disc images (BDMV and ISO) with menus in Dolby Vision (MEL and FEL), as well as various file formats such as MKV, MP4, TS and M2TS. All common Dolby Vision profiles (P4, P5, P7 MEL and FEL, P8) are supported. The enhanced Dolby Vision metadata is used to improve picture quality and transmitted to the TV.

HDR > SDR

With Dolby's built-in VS10 processing, any HDR content is converted into traditional SDR with perfect color gradation. Additionally, video processing converts Ultra HD video content into extremely high-quality uncompressed 1080p 4:4:4 video to display 4K content on Full HD 1080p displays. This process increases the resolution by approximately 30% compared to Blu-ray on a 1080p TV or projector. By combining these amazing technologies, you can take advantage of 4K UHD content on your 1080p TV or projector. Less compression. More colors. More details! For some 4K projectors, HDR > SDR conversion through video processing can produce even better results than direct HDR display through your projector.

DVD, Blu-ray and UHD menu support

View the DVD, Blu-ray and UHD menus and gain access to additional content (Director's Cuts, Theatrical Versions, Bonus Extras, Bookmarks, etc.) This feature is available with both ISO and BDMV (DVD, Blu -ray, Blu-ray 3D and 4K UHD) compatible. Or, if you don't want to show menus, you can start a movie immediately without any trailers or warnings. Seamless branching is also perfectly supported for perfect gap-free playback of director-cut editions.

R_Video – A modern media center

PlayerOne includes R_video - the best entertainment hub on the market with an impressive interface to explore your movies and TV shows. R_video scans your video files located on a local drive connected to your PlayerOne or on a NAS over the local network. Then R_video collects the cover image, background and various information like cast, director, release date, rating, etc. Then all you have to do is sit back in your home theater with your friends or family and easily choose your movie or TV show. Browse a genre. Sort movies by rating, duration or release date. Read a synopsis. Play the trailer. Then press PLAY to enjoy your movie. After the credits roll, wait for the next episode of your TV show to start automatically.

Best performance

The PlayerOne 8K benefits from the hi-end version of the latest S928X multimedia processor with integrated Dolby Vision VS10 engine. The main processor includes four ARM A55 cores clocked at 2,0 GHz, a "big" ARM A76 core clocked at 1,9 GHz (with very high performance), plus an additional core for system requirements. The resulting processor performance is up to 2 times higher than that of the Realtek RTD1619DR chipset used in the previous version of the PlayerOne. The GPU has been upgraded to Mali G57. Combined with ultra-fast LPDDR4X and eMMC, this ensures tremendous system performance. The overall Antutu score exceeds 300.000 points, significantly higher than that of the previous generation of the R_volution media player.

• Dynamic HDR (Dynamic HDR Metadata) – HDR data (depth, detail, brightness, contrast and color gamut) can now be optimized scene by scene or even frame by frame.
• Full 8K 60p HDR video support – UHD 8K resolution offers four times as many pixels as 4K and eight times as many as Full HD 1080p. The 8K format offers the most immersive viewing experience and delivers a smooth and sharp image. The PlayerOne 8K supports both decoding 8K 60p HDR videos from video files and streaming content with 8Kp60 HDR video output for the best possible visual experience. The PlayerOne 8K can also downscale 8K content to any other resolution for a better experience on 1080p and 4K displays. It can also upscale any content to the glorious 8K resolution.
• SmartTube 8K HDR - Some 8K YouTube streams are encoded in the AV1 codec at a much higher bitrate (around 2x) than 4K stream playback (50 Mbps in AV1 quality is equivalent to an even higher bitrate of VP9 or HEVC) . This significantly improves image quality compared to older media players that can only play 4K VP9/HEVC, even for users with 1080p or 4K screens.
• High Audio Bitrate – Support for high bitrate home theater audio formats, object-based audio such as DTS
