Arcam doesn't stuff its devices with countless channels. The problem with a 9, 11 or even 15 channel A/V receiver is that the performance of the respective power supply is severely limited. This means that there is only little power left per loudspeaker and the quality and dynamics suffer massively as a result. It is always advisable to work with a higher number of channels with an external power amplifier. This generally applies to all A/V receivers. Always dimension the "motor" accordingly in order to benefit from the maximum sound quality of the loudspeakers.
