CES 2024: Panasonic with new OLED flagship

Panasonic is announcing two new OLED flagship series for 2024 at CES in Las Vegas: the Z95A (65″ and 55″) and the Z93A (77″). With Fire TV built-in, these TVs are revolutionizing the way viewers discover and enjoy content. They offer a customized home screen that brings together streaming services, apps, live channels and personalized recommendations.

The Z95A and Z93A feature outstanding picture and sound quality - thanks to a brand new processor and optimized panel technology. Dolby Vision IQTM Precision ensures superior image performance and improved brightness, while Technics' carefully tuned 360 Soundscape Pro impresses with powerful 3D surround sound.

When it comes to gaming, speed and responsiveness are key. Panasonic's new OLED TVs are among the first in the world to offer a 144Hz refresh rate for next-level, vibrant gameplay.

Panasonic Fire TV: Explore More, Feel More

In a world overwhelmed by a deluge of content, the Z95A and Z93A stand out for their ability to aggregate content from TV networks and streaming services. This content-centric approach, enabled by built-in Fire TV, offers viewers a streamlined experience when discovering and consuming content.

“With so much on offer, it’s a real challenge to find exactly what you want to see. Therefore, our new approach goes beyond providing great picture and sound. “It’s about simplifying the search for content and ensuring that it is not only convenient but also fun,” said Akira Toyoshima, President and CEO of Panasonic Entertainment & Communication Co, Ltd.

The Fire TV integration offers a significantly improved user experience and simplified access to a wide range of top streaming apps and services. The new Panasonic OLED televisions are not only perfect entertainment experts, but also hubs for smart home management. They are fully compatible with Alexa-enabled devices and feature a smart home dashboard that allows users to seamlessly monitor and control their connected home ecosystem. Additionally, the Z95A and Z93A are compatible with Apple Home and AirPlay, so users can control their TV with Siri and easily stream movies, music, games and photos directly from their iPhone, iPad or Mac.

Available for the first time on a Panasonic Smart TV, far-field voice control can easily launch apps, play music, search for songs, control the smart home and much more via Alexa - all from the other end of the living room, with only your voice and without Remote control.

Thanks to Fire TV Ambient Experience, the largest screen in the house is transformed into a beautiful, dynamic display. This turns the television into a home gallery that displays personal photos and displays information such as calendars and appointments at a glance using customizable Alexa widgets.

Panasonic has implemented many of the best features of its proprietary operating system into the new OLED TVs, such as the Penta Tuner for expanded signal reception. In addition to satellite, cable and antenna reception, the Penta Tuner also supports reception via the Internet (IPTV) and the home network (TV>IP). This means that televisions can be set up independently of an antenna socket and programs can be received in any room without an additional TV connection.

The remote controls of the new OLED models feature the practical “MyApp” button, which can be programmed to directly open a favorite app, channel or even a favorite voice control command.

The HbbTV Operator app also offers access to live and on-demand content without the need for hardware or smart cards. USB recording and live TV rewind make watching TV convenient, while automatic tuner detection and advanced channel sorting make setup easy.

See It All. Feel It All.

The new Panasonic OLED TVs Z95A and Z93A combine a brand new chip, the HCX Pro AI Processor MK II, with the Master OLED Ultimate Panel (or Master OLED Pro Cinema size1 for the Z93A). This results in an ideal interplay between Panasonic's technical precision, backed by Japanese know-how and the highest level of engineering, and Stefan Sonnenfeld's color expertise. Sonnenfeld, founder and CEO of Company 3, works with some of the best filmmakers in the world and is among a handful of leading colorists who use the power of color matching to tell stories and convey emotion.

Nicknamed the "da Vinci of cinema" by NPR, Stefan Sonnenfeld has demonstrated his mastery as a colorist on many of the most iconic and beloved films of the last decade: "Top Gun: Maverick," "A Star is Born," " Wonder Woman,” “HBO’s White Lotus,” “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” “Jurassic World,” “300,” and many more. Like many other leading colorists, studios and post-production houses, he uses Panasonic OLED screens as large format reference monitors in his daily workflow.

The Panasonic Z95A uses a Master OLED Ultimate panel module2, which features a state-of-the-art Micro Lens Array and multi-layer thermal management developed by Panasonic engineers. Thanks to the improved control technology and thermal management, the panel offers unprecedented brightness.

“At Panasonic, we have always been committed to providing the most accurate image quality possible. This is achieved not only through technical precision, but also through collaboration with the best colorists in Hollywood. And for a tailored viewing experience, we integrated AI to recognize the type of content and perfectly adjust the picture and sound settings,” said Akira Toyoshima, President and CEO of Panasonic Entertainment & Communication Co, Ltd.

The newly developed HCX Pro AI Processor MK II in the Z95A and Z93A is the heart of the new 4K Remaster Engine, which combines AI and mathematical models to ensure razor-sharp, natural images and outstanding noise reduction when streaming. Gradation has also been improved to reduce banding.

Both TV models also support Dolby Vision IQTM Precision Detail - an image enhancement system aimed at revealing additional details. This evolution of Dolby Vision IQTM adjusts the light level in each area of the screen to bring out more detail without increasing brightness to the point where the image appears washed out.

This technology works with the TV's built-in ambient light sensors to adjust the image on the display based on the ambient brightness so that every detail can be seen, even in the darkest scenes. The new HCX Pro AI processor MK II also enables Dolby Vision®-Support up to 144 Hz.

Working with our Hollywood partners, Technics engineers carefully tuned the new OLED displays to ensure content is seen and heard the way filmmakers intended - with 360 Soundscape Pro tuned by Technics, with multidirectional speakers and Dolby Atmos®-Support that work together to deliver captivating 3D surround sound.

Level Up Your Game

The Z95A and Z93A are among the first OLED TVs in the world to offer a 144Hz refresh rate - a groundbreaking development for gaming enthusiasts. This feature ensures unparalleled responsiveness - a major competitive advantage for all gamers. At the heart of this innovation is the new HCX Pro AI processor MK II, known for its vivid, seamless and crystal-clear image reproduction.

Thanks to this new processor, Panasonic is introducing the improved “Game Mode Extreme”, which equips the TVs with the latest gaming functions and makes them ready for the latest consoles and PCs. The integration of HDMI 2.1 High Frame Rate and VRR up to 144Hz means more frames per second, resulting in faster and smoother gameplay. Another important innovation is the improved Dolby Vision Gaming, which is now also compatible with refresh rates of up to 144 Hz. This upgrade represents ultimate contrast and superior image quality in High Dynamic Range, further improving the gaming experience

Additionally, these TVs boast extremely low input lag - a feature that is crucial for fast-paced gaming. It ensures that every controller action is immediately reflected on the screen, which can give gamers a decisive competitive advantage over opponents.

The new Panasonic OLED TVs also support True Game Mode, a picture preset specifically tailored to improve color accuracy, including optimal white balance and grayscale settings. The result is a gaming experience that closely follows the vision of the game developers and sends players on a cinematic and authentic visual journey.

In addition to the visual improvements, these TVs also have special game sound modes for the RPG (role-playing games) and FPS (first-person shooter) genres. RPG mode creates a 3D soundscape with clear dialogue essential for an engaging narrative and strategic gameplay. FPS mode, on the other hand, is tuned to highlight important sounds like footsteps, providing tactical advantages in shooter games.

Another important feature is HDR image adjustment with Tone Mapping OFF. It allows for perfect adjustment of HDR games directly at the source, ensuring high brightness levels and detailed visibility without exaggerating the highlights.

All game settings are quickly and easily accessible via the updated on-screen “Game Control Board”. For quick access, this dashboard can also be saved to the “MyApp” button on the remote control.
