The heart of image processing is the Valerion ProVision Engine™, which is based on the powerful MT9618 AI-SoC platform Thanks to artificial intelligence, this platform optimizes content in real time. The integrated AI Super Resolution scales up low-resolution content frame by frame and intelligently improves details. This means that even older or non-high-definition content appears sharper and more realistic on high-resolution displays. In addition, the MT9618 chip enables refresh rates of 4K at 144 Hz, 1080p at 240 Hz and 4K at 120 Hz, which makes the projector ideal for action-packed movies and gaming. The MEMC technology (Motion Estimation and Motion Compensation) ensures smooth movements and eliminates annoying blurring, even in fast scenes. We will go into more detail about the complete signal processing with AI image optimization and also about gaming performance a little later.

The proven 0,47″ DMD chipset from Texas Instruments complements the image quality with its innovative XPR shifting technologyMicroscopic mirrors project up to four pixels per mirror, providing effective 4K Ultra HD resolution with 8,3 million pixels This technology has established itself as the standard in this price range and is taken to a new level of performance by combining it with RGB triple laser technology and the Valerion ProVision Engine™.

XPR technology
The XPR shifting (Expanded Pixel Resolution) is an innovative technology from Texas Instruments that enables effective resolution with a full HD DMD chipset (1920 x 1080 pixels). 4K resolution of 8,3 million pixels The core of the process lies in the ultra-fast movement of the Digital Micromirror Device (DMD), a surface with tiny, individually controllable mirrors.

Functionality in detail

  1. Basis: Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels)
XPR shifting starts with a native full HD image generated by the mirrors of the DMD chip. Each mirror represents a pixel in the projected image.
  2. pixel shifting due to fast movement
Using a piezo mechanism, the entire DMD chip is moved at extremely high speed. The position of each mirror shifts by a tiny distance (less than the width of a pixel). This shift takes place in four positions per image: top left, top right, bottom left and bottom right.
  3. Four pixels per mirror
Through these movements, each mirror projects four pixels onto the screen at slightly different positions. This happens so quickly that the human eye perceives the pixels as connected. The result is a sharper and more detailed image with an effective resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels (4K).
  4. synchronization with the image signal
The movements of the DMD chip are precisely synchronized with the image signal. The image is output in four temporally separated “subframes”, which together form a complete 4K image.

The XPR shifting is an elegant solution for producing high-quality 4K images with cost-effective components. It has become established as a standard in many projectors and laser TVs and offers an excellent combination of image quality, speed and efficiency.

Flexible installation thanks to optical zoom

The integrated optical unit with a zoom from 0,9 – 1,5:1 makes the VisionMaster Pro 2 particularly versatile in terms of placement. Whether it is a small home cinema or a larger room – the zoom function allows precise adjustment of the image size without having to move the projector. The following table shows the recommended projection distances for different image diagonals:

screen diagonal (inches)Minimum distance (m)Maximum distance (m)
100 inch1,993,32
110 inch2,193,65
120 inch2,393,98
135 inch2,694,48

image performance and intelligent image processing

The image quality of the Valerion VisionMaster Pro 2 is defined by a combination of the latest technologies and precise image optimization techniques. The focus is on the AI-supported image optimization, dynamic tone mappingthe Enhanced Black Level technology and the MEMC intermediate image calculationThese technologies work harmoniously together to optimally display each scene and ensure visually stunning playback.

One of the key technologies is Artificial Intelligencethat analyzes and optimizes the image in real time. Each individual image is examined frame by frame in order to specifically adjust important details such as contrast, colors and brightness. The AI automatically recognizes whether it is skin tones, shadows or bright accents, for example, and optimizes them individually. This ensures precise adjustment that makes content appear more vivid and realistic. Especially in scenes with a high contrast range, such as dark nights with bright light sources, the AI highlights the finest details without bright areas overexposing or dark areas losing structure.

The dynamic tone mapping complements these optimizations by specifically adjusting HDR content. While conventional tone mapping processes often work with static brightness values, the VisionMaster Pro 2 adjusts the display in real time to the specific requirements of the image content. Bright scenes retain their radiance without fading, while dark scenes have the finest shades and depths. This dynamic adjustment ensures that HDR content is displayed as intended by the director, with a harmonious transition between bright and dark areas.

The Enhanced Black Level technology combines precise laser dimming with dynamic gamma correctionto optimize black levels and contrast. Laser dimming adjusts the light intensity of the RGB triple laser source depending on the image scene, which creates impressive depth, especially in dark scenes. At the same time, gamma correction ensures the exact adjustment of the brightness gradients and guarantees that details in shadow areas remain visible. In our tests, the projector was able to achieve a sequential contrast of just over 4000:1 between white and black images (native approx. 1800:1). With activated functions, the dynamic contrast increases considerably to over 15.000:1, resulting in an overall more realistic and expressive image.

Another central component of the image performance is the MEMC intermediate image calculation (Motion Estimation and Motion Compensation). This process calculates additional intermediate frames to display movements in the image more smoothly. MEMC analyzes the motion vectors in each scene and inserts calculated frames to minimize juddering and blurring. This technology ensures that movements appear clear and without artifacts, especially in fast camera pans, action scenes or sports broadcasts. Even with lower frame rates from sources such as Blu-rays or streaming services, the image is visibly enhanced by MEMC, which enables a pleasant and smooth display.

The combination of these technologies gives the VisionMaster Pro 2 an exceptional ability to adapt content individually and precisely to its specific requirements. Whether bright daylight scenes, deep night scenes or fast motion sequences - each scene is analyzed and optimized with the utmost care to provide a consistent and immersive viewing experience. Thanks to these advanced image processing technologies, the VisionMaster Pro 2 offers impressive visual performance characterized by sharp details, smooth movements and balanced contrasts.

The image performance of the Valerion VisionMaster Pro 2 convinces in practice with a harmonious combination of the latest technologies. Even though we are still working with a pre-sample here and Valerion will probably provide further updates for optimization in the future, it is already clear that the strength of the projector lies primarily in its Enhanced Black Level technology, the dynamic tone mapping and the AI-supported image optimization These technologies work together seamlessly to produce an image result that is more than impressive.

The Enhanced Black Level technology works precisely and delivers impressive black levels by effectively combining laser dimming and dynamic gamma correction. Dynamic tone mapping ensures realistic HDR representations with balanced brightness and contrast gradients, while AI-supported image optimization analyzes and adjusts each scene in real time to display details and colors in the best possible way. The interaction of these functions creates an image representation that shows its strengths in both dark and bright scenes.

Enhanced Black Level Technology: Function and Added Value

The Enhanced Black Level technology opportunities, Valerion VisionMaster Pro 2 combines innovative techniques to optimize black levels and contrast in every scene in almost real time. At its core, this technology is based on precise control of the RGB triple laser light source by laser dimming and a dynamic gamma correction, which analyses and adjusts image content in fractions of a second. This combination enables precise adjustment of light intensity and brightness gradients, depending on the respective requirements of the image scene.

Our detailed test with the latest beta firmware, which was released just before Christmas, shows that this technology makes a decisive difference. The results are impressive: dark scenes are enriched with deeper blacks and finer shades, while bright areas retain their radiance. Although the Enhanced Black Level technology is not yet perfect, Valerion is already hard at work making further optimizations. We are confident that future updates will deliver an almost perfectly functioning EBL. Even in its current state, however, it represents a noticeable enrichment and raises the image quality to an impressive level.

The result is a high-contrast image with impressive detail that is impressive even in dark scenes and ensures a real cinema experience. The VisionMaster Pro 2 is particularly impressive in dark scenes, where, thanks to the Enhanced Black Level technology, it delivers images that are often comparable to projectors that have a much higher contrast ratio of, for example, 10.000:1. The VisionMaster Pro 2 actually only has a native contrast ratio of just under 1.800:1. Nevertheless, its image quality exceeds expectations in most film scenes and offers impressively realistic images.

In very specific movie scenes where very bright areas (such as a brilliant light) occur in a dark environment, projectors with a higher native contrast may have an advantage. However, such scenes are rare because few films contain these extreme contrasts. A bright area in such scenes is often described in video engineering with an IRE value - 0 IRE represents black and 100 IRE represents the brightest white. Scenes where, for example, a 100 IRE area (maximum brightness) occurs in an otherwise dark environment only make up an extremely small part of a film. Therefore, the practical significance of these differences remains manageable.

In addition, the VisionMaster Pro 2's ANSI contrast helps to clearly display details even in these demanding scenes. In almost all film scenes, the VisionMaster Pro 2 delivers performance equivalent to a projector with a native contrast ratio of over 10.000:1.

The VisionMaster Pro 2 shows its strengths particularly in scenes with very dark areas and fine brightness gradations (e.g. at dusk or in low light). Thanks to its EBL technology, it even shines compared to more expensive models with higher native contrast. The VisionMaster Pro 2 masters such scenes, which are often difficult to project, with ease and produces impressive images that are particularly impressive in terms of detail and depth. In my opinion, the Valerion VisionMaster Pro 2 far surpasses the performance of all DLP projectors on the market today in dark scenes and in real environments it can confidently keep up with home cinema models from other manufacturers, some of which cost significantly more.

The laser dimming technology dynamically regulates the intensity of the light source, reducing unnecessary brightness in dark scenes. At the same time, the gamma correction for a precise distribution of brightness levels within a scene. Especially with HDR content, as found in films with high-contrast and atmospheric scenes – for example The Batman – the added value of EBL technology becomes apparent. Light and dark areas are harmoniously combined without losing details or making the image appear flat.

In practice, this technology means a significant improvement in image depth and contrast. The visual performance is significantly improved to create an immersive viewing experience. Valerion shows here that continuous development and optimization bring noticeable progress - and the Enhanced Black Level technology is already an important component of this impressive projector.

image performance and supported HDR formats

The impressive image performance of the Valerion VisionMaster Pro 2 is not only supported by advanced image processing technology such as dynamic tone mapping, Enhanced Black Level technology and the AI-supported optimization but also by the comprehensive support of modern HDR formatsThe projector is capable of displaying content in Dolby Vision, HDR10 +, HDR10, HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) and even IMAX Enhanced – always with dynamic tone mapping that adapts each scene individually.

The support of Dolby Vision ensures a particularly precise representation of brightness and contrast by reading and adjusting metadata in real time. This enables dynamic optimization of details in both the brightest and darkest areas of the image. HDR10 + complements this flexibility with its dynamic metadata, which offers more precise control of contrasts and color gradients, especially for HDR content from streaming services. HDR10 and HLG, which use more static metadata, also benefit from the projector's dynamic tone mapping, which enhances these formats and highlights the finest details.

The image quality is particularly impressive with IMAX Enhanced-certified content. These specially optimized films and series are characterized by extended color spaces, higher contrasts and an image format optimized for large projection surfaces. The VisionMaster Pro 2's ability to natively support and dynamically adapt these formats allows viewers to enjoy a visual experience that reaches cinema standards. The combination of these HDR formats with dynamic tone mapping ensures that the projector delivers an optimal display regardless of the source material, with the content always appearing as the director intended.

The results that the projector achieves are truly impressive. The integration of dynamic tone mapping makes it possible to display HDR content as the director intended it - without additional hardware or costs. This feature makes the VisionMaster Pro 2 not only versatile, but also extremely attractive for users who value the highest image quality without having to make additional investments.

Color Space Coverage: Theory and Practice

A particularly noteworthy advantage of the VisionMaster Pro 2 is its large color space, which was taken by Valerion with 110% BT.2020 In practice, however, we did not achieve this value. However, after careful calibration and adjustment, we were able to achieve a still impressive value of 98% BT.2020 This large color space enables extremely vivid and differentiated color reproduction, which is particularly impressive with high-quality content such as 4K UHD Blu-rays or high-quality streams.

Out of the Box Measurement

The VisionMaster Pro 2 shows its strengths particularly in color-intensive scenes, such as nature documentaries or animations. A wide color space ensures that more color nuances are visible, which makes the content appear more realistic and detailed. Red and green tones appear richer, blue and yellow tones more differentiated - which enriches the visual perception enormously.

Adjustment and calibration

Out of the box, however, the VisionMaster Pro 2 shows a slightly inaccurate color reproduction in our measurements, which does not directly match the values specified by Valerion. Here it is necessary to adjust the projector individually. One positive aspect is that Valerion offers extensive setting and calibration options which allow the projector to be optimally adjusted to the respective room and content conditions. With the correct calibration, the projector can be brought to an excellent color standard that guarantees almost perfect color reproduction.

The strong depth perception and the clear separation of the image planes create an impressive spatial feeling that literally immerses the viewer in the scenery.

An outstanding example is the Underwater scene from "Avatar: The Way of Water", in which the bright colors of the bioluminescent plants and animals on Pandora are particularly noticeable. The Valerion VisionMaster Pro 2 effectively compensates for the loss of brightness caused by the 3D glasses, so that even the finest details and strong colors remain visible. The depth of the water and the movements of the schools of fish appear extremely realistic, and the reflections of the light on the water surface give the scene additional liveliness - a real treat for fans of this format.

Dune,

Denis Villeneuve's Dune With its vast desert landscapes and high-contrast scenes between bright sunlight and deep shadows, it places high demands on image processing. This is where the Valerion VisionMaster Pro 2 shows its strengths: The dynamic tone mapping adapts the HDR display in real time to the changing lighting conditions of the desert scenes. The dazzlingly bright sand dunes are shown in detail without losing the structure of the sand, while the dark shadows of the wormholes and the night sequences are laser dimming technology reach an impressive depth.

Especially the scene in which the first sandworm appears demonstrates the power of the Enhanced Black Level technology. The deep shadows of the worm contrast perfectly with the dazzling light reflections on the sand, and the subtle shades of brown and beige look extremely realistic. The AI-supported image optimization highlights details such as the sand structures or the patterns of the protective suits, making the experience even more intense.

The Batman

Another example is The Batman, a film that, with its dark aesthetics and high-contrast lighting, is particularly striking Enhanced Black Level technology The deep black shadows of Gotham City are rendered precisely and without any grey haze, while neon lights and reflective surfaces remain brightly clear even in the darkest scenes. This is where the strength of the gamma correction, which makes the transitions between light and dark areas of the image appear smooth and natural.

The dark action is enhanced by the smooth image reproduction during fast movements, supported by MEMC intermediate image calculation, particularly dynamic. Chases and fights remain razor-sharp and detailed, without motion blur or jerking.

The Night Vision optimization It also helps to highlight details in dark areas such as shadows or illuminated sections of the track, even during night races, creating a realistic atmosphere.

The support of the 32:9 format with an ultra-wide screen, the perspective expands considerably and creates the feeling of actually sitting behind the wheel of a racing car. The smooth transition of the frames ensures that there is no blurring even at high speeds, and every drift or jump is displayed clearly and dynamically.

Laser Speckle: A Potential Disadvantage of the RGB Triple Laser Light Source

The RGB triple laser light source opportunities, Valerion VisionMaster Pro 2 impresses with its exceptional color accuracy and brightness, but also brings the phenomenon of the so-called Laser Speckles Laser speckles are caused by interference of the laser light that occurs when it is reflected from the screen. These appear as fine, grainy patterns that can be seen especially in monochrome scenes or on uniform backgrounds. Especially in combination with contrast screens, which are actually intended to improve the black level and contrast, this phenomenon can be more pronounced. But laser speckles can also be seen on white screens under certain conditions, especially when the image offers little structure or movement.

However, the perception of this effect is highly individual. While I personally only noticed the laser speckles minimally, even when using a contrast screen, and did not find them disturbing, it could be a more significant problem for other users. In this case, it is advisable to test the projector and screen combination beforehand to ensure that your own viewing experience is not impaired. Alternatively, it is helpful to test a projector before purchasing a screen. cloth pattern and test them under realistic conditions. These tests are particularly important because contrast screens offer many advantages, such as improving the black level, but are also more susceptible to laser speckles. By making a conscious selection and testing beforehand, the advantages of the Valerion VisionMaster Pro 2 can be fully exploited without laser speckles becoming a disruptive factor.

sound system, power consumption and operating volume

Up to this point, from the quality of workmanship about the Google TV operating system and picture quality, he has Valerion VisionMaster Pro 2 The numerous technologies that not only ensure exceptional image and gaming performance, but also provide an overall well-thought-out user experience are particularly impressive. It is honestly a pleasure to work with this laser projector, and the Valerion development team has done a really excellent job here.

Of course, that doesn’t mean that everything is perfect. But considering the price, the VisionMaster Pro 2 offers a surprisingly good mix of picture quality, gaming features and high-quality processing, which is impressive. The experience so far has been positive, but there is still a lot to be tested. Topics such as the integrated sound system and the Power consumption are still pending in our test, as well as a final conclusionthat summarizes the strengths and weaknesses of the projector.

Integrated sound system

The Valerion VisionMaster Pro 2 has an integrated sound system with a audio power of 2×10 watts, DTS Virtual: X supported and with DTS: X and Dolby Audio compatible. For a sound system integrated into a compact projector, it delivers solid sound results. The sound is clear, with a good balance between highs and mids, and it is more than sufficient to accompany spontaneous movie nights or gaming sessions.

However, it must be said that the sound system does not offer audiophile performance. It was clearly not developed as a core aspect of the projector, which is understandable given the focus on image and gaming performance. For occasions such as a quick gaming evening with friends or simply projecting content, the sound is sufficient. However, anyone looking for an immersive soundscape that can keep up with the image quality of the VisionMaster Pro 2 will be better off with an external surround system.

It is worth investing in a high-quality audio system to complement the visual experience of the projector with impressive sound. With the appropriate audio equipment, you can create a real home cinema feeling in which picture and sound harmonize perfectly and offer an exceptional overall experience.

Power consumption: efficient and impressive

Even though the sound system of the Valerion VisionMaster Pro 2 could not completely convince us, the Power consumption The projector is even more impressive. Given the 3000 ISO lumen brightness, wide color space coverage and the active AI optimizations The energy efficiency of the device is remarkable. Even with maximum brightness and dynamic technologies such as the dynamic tone mapping and the Enhanced Black Level technology we were able to maximum power consumption of only 163,8 watts measure up.

In normal operation, which varies due to the dynamics between brighter and darker scenes, the power consumption even fluctuates at an average 130 watts – an astonishingly low value for a projector with this performance class. LIGRE eco mode, which is ideal for darkened rooms, consumption is reduced to less than 100 watts, making the VisionMaster Pro 2 one of the most efficient RGB triple laser projectors we've tested.

This impressive efficiency shows that Valerion is setting standards not only in terms of image and gaming performance, but also in terms of energy consumption. For users, this means not only lower operating costs, but also more sustainable use that is good for both the environment and your wallet. In summary, we can say that the VisionMaster Pro 2 is not only impressive in terms of power consumption, but even surprised us in a positive way.

Operating noise: Pleasantly quiet

Also on the subject Operating noise could us the Valerion VisionMaster Pro 2 positive surprise. With measured 22 dB from a distance of 1,5 meters it is one of the quietest RGB triple laser projectorsthat we have tested so far. These values are remarkable, especially considering the high performance of the projector, which often comes with greater heat generation and correspondingly louder fans.

Even when measuring directly with a smartphone placed directly on the projector, we only achieved 28 dBThis value is even lower than the specifications given in the data sheet and shows that the cooling system of the VisionMaster Pro 2 is extremely efficient and at the same time pleasantly quiet. This contributes significantly to the projector not being disruptive even in quiet scenes and enables an undisturbed film experience.

A sound level of 28 dB is in the range of very quiet noises and is comparable to:

  • to whisper at a distance of about one meter (approx. 30 dB).
  • rustling of leaves in light wind (approx. 20-30 dB).
  • Juniper quiet library (approx. 30 dB).

In everyday life, a noise level of 28 dB is perceived as almost inaudible, especially when masked by other ambient noise. For a projector, this value is extremely low and corresponds to the volume of a gently humming device that is hardly noticeable even in quiet scenes of a film.

The combination of low operating noise and high image quality makes the VisionMaster Pro 2 not only technically impressive, but also acoustically unobtrusive - another point that makes it an excellent choice for use in living rooms or home cinema environments.

Conclusion of the test of the Valerion VisionMaster Pro 2

The Valerion VisionMaster Pro 2 has convinced us in our test on almost all levels and has proven to be an extremely versatile and powerful laser projector. From the high-quality quality of workmanship and the sophisticated design to the impressive image and gaming performance The projector delivers an all-round successful package that offers a surprising amount for its price.

The RGB triple laser light source provides vivid colors and precise color reproduction with up to 98% BT.2020 after calibration, which is particularly effective with HDR content. Supported by technologies such as dynamic tone mapping, Enhanced Black Level technology and the AI-supported image optimization The projector achieves impressive results – from bright, detailed scenes to deep, high-contrast black areas. The VisionMaster Pro 2 also scores points in the gaming sector: With 144 Hz at 4K, 240 Hz at 1080p and a input lag of only 4 ms it is an ideal choice for demanding gamers.

We were particularly pleasantly surprised by the projector’s power consumption. With a maximum consumption of 163,8 watts at full brightness and activated AI functions and an average consumption of 130 watts The VisionMaster Pro 2 shows remarkable efficiency. Even in LIGRE eco mode, with under 100 watts, the image quality remains impressive, which also makes the projector an environmentally friendly choice.

Another plus is that Operating noise, which with measured 22 dB from a distance of 1,5 meters, it is one of the quietest in its class. This ensures a pleasant viewing experience without the fan disturbing your enjoyment of the film or game.

The integrated Sound system While it offers solid performance for occasional movie nights or spontaneous gaming sessions, it doesn't reach the level of impressive picture quality. Those looking for an immersive home theater experience should therefore invest in an external audio system to complement the visual with a high-quality acoustic component.

The automatic functions, such as Auto Keystone, Auto Focus, Obstacle Avoidance and Automatic Screen Adjustment, make setting up and operating the projector extremely simple and user-friendly. They ensure that the VisionMaster Pro 2 is quickly ready for use in almost any environment.

A small point of criticism concerns the Remote Control, which is not fully backlit. While operation in the dark is still possible, a full backlight would have been a welcome detail that would have further enhanced the overall impression.

Weaknesses and Clues

Despite its many strengths, there are also some weaknesses that should be mentioned. phenomenon of laser speckles, which can occur with RGB triple laser projectors, was in our test different depending on the screen and individual perception. Therefore, we recommend testing both the projector and the planned screen combination before purchasing. In addition, the projector delivers factory calibration not perfect color results, but these can be easily adjusted thanks to the extensive calibration options.

Final rating

The Valerion VisionMaster Pro 2 is a projector that features an impressive combination of picture quality, Gaming performance, Energy Efficiency and ease of use It is an excellent choice for users who value high-quality projection, versatile functions and easy handling. With its few weaknesses and numerous strengths, the VisionMaster Pro 2 offers an outstanding price-performance ratio and ensures a viewing experience that is unparalleled in this class and in the overall context.
